Fundación Cristiana de Asistencia a Quemados (CRISAQ)
Fundacion Cristiana de Asistencia a Quemados was founded in 2004 as a result of the partnership between family members of burn victims who were involved in a devastating plane crash. They created this foundation in order to address the great need for pediatric burn care in Honduras. The goals of this foundation include providing medical care for pediatric burn victims such as physical rehabilitation and counseling as well as educating the public on burn prevention strategies. Another important goal of this foundation is to share burn care information and sustainable treatment practices with other medical centers in Honduras taking care of pediatric patients. Currently, this foundation offers 14 hospital beds for pediatric burn patients at El Hospital Materno Infantil de Honduras. Most of these patients were victims of hot water burns who come from poor households.
